CHASE mentors work alongside other mentors. Mentors work in groups of 2-5 mentors and facilitate curriculum sessions to groups of approximately 15-20 students.
Mentoring takes approximately 2 hours a week; 1 hour is dedicated to the overview session in which mentors will learn about the topic and 1 hour for the mentor session they are responsible for facilitating (using the curriculum).

Mentors will be asked to sign off on a Mentor Contract. Please see information below related to the contract: CIP CHASE Mentors agree to: Follow all rules and guidelines as outlined by the program coordinator, mentor training, program policies, and this contract. Be flexible and provide the necessary support and advice to help my mentee and other mentor’s success. Make a one-year commitment to CHASE (2 semesters). Attend each curriculum overview and training sessions. Be on time for scheduled meetings or contact program coordinator- via email, group me or in person if I am unable to make a meeting. Openly communicate with the program coordinator as requested (especially considering any conflict, disputes, reportable information regarding mentors and students). Inform the program coordinator of any difficulties or areas of concern that may arise in the relationship. Keep any information that students or mentor team tells me confidential except as may cause his/her or others harm. Always obey traffic laws when in the presence of my mentee Never be in the presence of my mentee when I have or am consuming alcohol, tobacco, or controlled substances. Participate in a closure process, exit interviews and assessment, when that time comes Notify the program coordinator if I have any changes in address, phone number, or academic standing. Attend retreat mentor training sessions twice per year and any other training sessions added If on Academic Probation I understand that I will dismissed from mentoring for a half to full semester. If mentor completes monthly progress report showing a GPA of a 2.5 or higher- mentor will be allowed to come back to mentor after the first half of semester. Student dismissal for whole semester if GPA shows a 2.4 or lower. Mentor is allowed to return as a mentor in the next coming year if GPA is above a 2.0 and is no longer on Academic Probation.
