Volunteer: Community Volunteer Day!

We are seeking volunteers to come out to the BUFA farm every Fourth Saturday from 8am-10am.  We will be planting, harvesting, weeding, feeding the goats and everything in between. We hope you can make it!

Position Overview:

We are seeking an organized and community-minded individual to join our team as a Volunteer Coordinator. This hybrid volunteer role will support the recruitment, management, and engagement of volunteers at our urban farm. The role is critical in helping us foster a strong, committed volunteer base. This position offers the opportunity to transition into a paid part-time role based on performance and organizational needs.

Responsibilities:

Recruitment: Actively recruit volunteers through community outreach, social media, and partnerships with local organizations.

Scheduling: Organize and maintain the volunteer schedule, ensuring adequate coverage for farm activities, events, and special projects.

Volunteer Orientation: Conduct orientations and training to prepare new volunteers for their roles on the farm.

Volunteer Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with volunteers, providing ongoing support and recognition.

Event Support: Assist with planning and coordinating volunteer-driven events and community engagement initiatives.

Record Keeping: Track volunteer hours, participation, and impact for reporting purposes.

Communication: Serve as the main point of contact for volunteers, keeping them informed about farm updates, opportunities, and events.

Qualifications:

Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Experience working with or managing volunteers, or in a community engagement role.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Passion for urban farming, sustainability, and community service.

Proficiency with scheduling software or volunteer management tools is a plus.

Ability to engage with diverse groups of people and foster an inclusive volunteer environment.
