Who We Are
The City of Stockton Animal Shelter is known for its transparency and for effectively promoting the humane and responsible care of companion animals. With an annual intake of approximately 11,000 animals, we continually strive to improve the care and services we provide to the animals that enter the shelter each year. Our mission is to improve the lives of animals that enter the shelter and the services we provide to the public. This is accomplished by the governance of animal safety laws, rabies quarantine, and providing top-notch veterinary care and other pertinent services to the residents of Stockton and San Joaquin County.
What We Do
The Stockton Animal Shelter is the largest open-admission animal shelter in the city of Stockton and San Joaquin County. The animals in our care depend on our staff to improve their lives while in our care. Animals in our care also depend on the volunteers who generously dedicate thousands of volunteer hours each year improving their lives.
There are many rewarding volunteer opportunities available at the Stockton Animal Shelter. Below are just a few:
-
Socializing animals
- Physical exercise for animals
- Assist with pet pantry weekly event
-
Clean and care for animals while in the shelter
-
Assist potential adopters with adoption at the shelter and at off-site adoption events
-
Laundry might seem like a small task, but it's an important one. With an annual intake of 11,000 animals, we have a lot of laundry.
